Art Challenge #1

I am so excited to announce my first art challenge! I enjoy both making and teaching art. One of my favorite ways to push myself is doing art challenges. I suspect many people like to do them because they are so popular. I have decided to teach some little something about art through these fun challenges. You can begin to create and learn with me through our Art Challenge #1.

Contour Line

Line is an element of art which is a tool artist use to design and create art. There are many directions the subject of line can go. For this challenge we are going to concentrate on Contour Line. Contour Line is basically an outline of a subject. There may be outlines of important features of the subject like eyes, nose, and mouth of a person, or the center of a flower. When you start getting into shading, texture, and modeling a subject you are getting into much too much detail for a contour drawing.

Art Challenge #1

Watch the video below for more details and example ideas for this challenge. Even though I have given several examples, do not limit yourself to my ideas. The challenge is to create art that emphasizes contour lines. That can mean drawing…or not. That can be diamond painting, cross stitching, painting, coloring, mixed media, clay, whatever your creative process is. This challenge is for anyone. An artist and hobbyist alike can learn something new and enjoy this challenge.
